September 30: National Day of Truth and Reconciliation – How SureFund™ will be affected

In June, the federal government designated September 30th as National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a new statutory holiday to commemorate the tragic history and lasting effects of Canada’s residential school system, and to honour the Indigenous survivors and their families and communities.

This new national holiday applies to federally regulated workplaces, including banks. Payments Canada, the national payments clearing and settlement system, will also be closed on September 30th. Although SureFund™ will be available for preparation of deals and collaboration, payouts cannot be disbursed on that day.

It is recommended that all real estate closings be adjusted to the business day before or after September 30, 2021.

At Teranet, our mission is to create stronger communities and we believe that advancing inclusion and diversity is key to forward movement.
