Some of you may be aware of news regarding Purolator service disruptions due to severe weather and a significant backlog of deliveries caused by the increase in volume from the ongoing Canada Post strike. In order to prioritize critical shipments, Purolator made the decision to suspend shipments from some third-party courier companies.
What does this mean?
SureFund’s payment provider uses Purolator to deliver cheque payments (except to P.O. Boxes), and such deliveries are considered part of the courier’s critical shipments, as a priority customer. While Purolator has not suspended service for SureFund’s payment provider, some cheque payments may be impacted by delays in transit, missed connections, and the surge in volume.
We may also experience longer wait times tracking your cheque payments or making any address corrections, as the Purolator Support team is experiencing much higher call volumes.
Consider adding extra Per Diems
We recommend including additional per diems of two (2) days to mitigate the potential impact of delivery delays.
Consider EFT
Wherever possible and if the option is available for the Payee, we recommend that you choose to make payments via EFT in SureFund. It is a safe payment option for transferring funds between two accounts in Canada when same day or next day receipt is acceptable. Funds typically post to the Payee’s account on the same day between 6:00pm and 11:00pm or by the next day.
